The C-COR Star of Integrity Award honors a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) for accomplishments in advancing next-generation on demand networks. The Steuben crystal award is presented to the winner by C-COR at SCTE's annual Conference on Emerging Technologies in January. In addition to the award, a contribution is also made in the name of the award recipient to SCTE's Scholarship Fund.
The 2006 winner of the Star of Integrity Award is Mike Coral, Director of Network Operations for the South Carolina Division of Time Warner Cable, who was recognized for being in the forefront in leveraging new technologies and approaches not only to deliver the advanced consumer services, but also to ensure that these services result in a positive consumer experience.
Mike Coral Speaking at the ET Award Luncheon
Drawing upon his nearly 25 years in the cable industry, including 15 with Time Warner, Mr. Coral spearheaded a major push to deploy network technologies and operational solutions in Time Warner's South Carolina Division to provide a high quality subscriber experience in convenience, value, and choice for advanced services such as Digital Cable, Video on Demand, HDTV and Caller ID. Mr. Coral is specifically cited for his leadership role in launching "Compass," an innovative application that enables Time Warner customers to remotely access local news, weather and sports, Caller ID, and "Startover," a unique on demand service that allows subscribers to restart a program from the beginning if they tune in after its start.
In addition to his responsibilities at Time Warner, Mr. Coral is also active in a number of industry professional groups including the SCTE and CableLabs®, a nonprofit research and development consortium dedicated to helping cable operator members integrate new technologies into their business objectives.
Any active SCTE member may nominate a peer for the Star of Integrity Award. To process a nomination, a written recommendation must be submitted along with the SCTE nomination form to the SCTE.
