2003 - Anthony M. Bowling
Star of Integrity Award Hall Of Fame

Star of Integrity The C-COR Star of Integrity Award honors a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) for accomplishments in achieving network integrity for advanced applications over cable. The Steuben crystal award is presented to the winner by C-COR's Chairman and CEO, David Woodle, at the SCTE's Conference on Emerging Technologies held each year in January. In addition to the award, a contribution is also made in the name of the award recipient to SCTE's Scholarship Fund.

The 2003 winner of the Star of Integrity Award is Anthony M. Bowling, Vice President of Engineering for the Atlanta Region, Comcast Corporation. As Vice President of Broadband Engineering for AT&T Broadband prior to its recent merger with Comcast, Anthony Bowling played a pivotal role in transitioning a diverse landscape of legacy AT&T cable systems to two-way, multi-service-capable networks. Given the significant role of AT&T in the cable marketplace, Mr. Bowling's leadership in network architecture design, the testing and qualification of equipment, development of standards, and evaluation of new technologies has influenced the direction and scope of industry buildout in support of advanced voice, video, and data subscriber services. When asked what he, himself, would select as his "defining" milestone in these efforts, Anthony Bowling points to a central database, developed under his leadership for all AT&T systems, that tracks and provides ready access to product test results and new technology evaluations-an invaluable tool correlating vendor data to system requirements and helping the AT&T systems to react quickly and appropriately to product changes and new developments. Mr. Bowling's professional accomplishments are matched by his deep personal commitment to his community and fellow man as a member of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army in Denver, Colorado…a service commitment he plans to transfer to his new home in Atlanta, Georgia.

Any active SCTE member may nominate a peer for the Star of Integrity Award. To process a nomination, a written recommendation must be submitted along with the SCTE nomination form to the SCTE. The recommendation should detail the qualities and accomplishments which make the nominee a distinguished candidate. For more information regarding the submission of nominations for the 2002 award, visit the SCTE website, www.scte.org.
