The C-COR Star of Integrity Award honors a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) for accomplishments in achieving network integrity for high-speed data applications. The Steuben crystal award is presented to the winner by C-COR's Chairman and CEO, David Woodle, at the SCTE's Conference on Emerging Technologies held each year in January. In addition to the award, a contribution is also made in the name of the award recipient to SCTE's Scholarship Fund.
The 2002 winner of the Star of Integrity Award is Bryan S. Rutkowski, engineer for Comcast Communications' on-line operations in Florida. In addition to his responsibilities in launching and managing high-speed data services in Comcast's West Florida systems, Bryan Rutkowski has also devoted himself to developing and implementing innovative solutions to ensure the reliability and performance of these services. One of his most recent innovations-the creation of a router diagnostic tool-has been adopted into all of Comcast's systems around the country. This one tool has saved hundreds of support man-hours for Comcast by preventing the need for a truck roll to resolve subscriber problems. In the words of a fellow colleague at Comcast, "Bryan Rutkowski is truly an innovator in the high-speed data service industry, providing a level of integrity that leaves the other providers scratching their heads." An enthusiastic outdoorsman with a love for biking and canoeing, Bryan Rutkowski is an outstanding representative of the dedicated cable professionals who are taking the lead in advancing network integrity in our industry.
Any active SCTE member may nominate a peer for the Star of Integrity Award. To process a nomination, a written recommendation must be submitted along with the SCTE nomination form to the SCTE. The recommendation should detail the qualities and accomplishments which make the nominee a distinguished candidate.
