Star of Integrity Award Hall Of Fame

The C-COR Star of Integrity Award honors a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) for accomplishments in achieving network integrity for high-speed data applications. The Steuben crystal award is presented to the winner by C-COR's Chairman and CEO, David Woodle, at the SCTE's Conference on Emerging Technologies held each year in January. In addition to the award, a contribution is also made in the name of the award recipient to SCTE's Scholarship Fund.
The 2001 winner of the Star of Integrity Award is David M. Pangrac, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Advent Networks Inc. As a member of SCTE since 1983 and a former Corporate Vice President of Time Warner Cable, David Pangrac spearheaded the development of analog fiber and hybrid fiber coax, receiving the Emmy and Vanguard Awards in recognition of his achievements in this area. Today, he continues to propose and implement significant architectural changes in the cable industry and is focused on solutions to resolve the data bottleneck over the last mile to the subscriber's premises. His patent-pending UltrabandTM architecture, an Ethernet-over-HFC platform for the delivery of data packets, offers a level of bandwidth beyond that of DSL or other economically viable technologies. In addition to his 30-plus years of professional contributions to the industry, David Pangrac is also active as a volunteer in the Civil Air Patrol, where he has logged thousands of hours in search-and-rescue missions.
Any active SCTE member may nominate a peer for the Star of Integrity Award. To process a nomination, a written recommendation must be submitted along with the SCTE nomination form to the SCTE. The recommendation should detail the qualities and accomplishments which make the nominee a distinguished candidate.
